🚨 Immediate Help — Right Now

What Just Happened to You?

Select your situation — get exact steps to take in the next 5 minutes, before it's too late.

🚔 This is a Digital Arrest Scam — You Have Not Done Anything Wrong

  1. Hang up immediately — no matter what they threaten. "Digital Arrest" does not exist in Indian law. PM Modi confirmed this on Mann Ki Baat. No C B I, police, or court ever arrests anyone via video call.
  2. Call 1930 right now (free, 24×7). If money was transferred, CFCFRMS can freeze the stolen funds in real-time — but only within the first hour.
  3. Call your bank's 24×7 helpline and say: "I was scammed — please freeze my last outgoing transaction immediately."
  4. File at cybercrime.gov.in within 24 hours. Upload all screenshots, call recordings, and fake warrant images they showed you.
  5. Tell your family — fraudsters often call other family members to add pressure. Everyone must know this is a scam right now.

West Bengal Court verdict, July 2025: 9 life sentences for Digital Arrest scammers — India's first conviction of its kind. The law is on your side.

💸 OTP / UPI Fraud — The Next 30 Minutes Are Critical

  1. Call 1930 right now. CFCFRMS can freeze stolen funds in real-time — but only before the money moves out of the first account. Every minute matters.
  2. Call your bank's 24×7 helpline. Say: "Freeze my account — unauthorised transaction happened." Get a written complaint reference number.
  3. Change your UPI PIN, net banking password, and SIM PIN from a different device immediately. The fraudster may still have access.
  4. File at cybercrime.gov.in with all UTR numbers, transaction IDs, and the phone number that called you. Upload screenshots of all messages.
  5. File a police FIR at your nearest station under IT Act Sec 66C. Invoke RBI Zero Liability Policy — if reported within 24 hrs, the bank must attempt a reversal.

RBI Circular (2017): Banks carry full liability for unauthorised transactions if reported within 24 hours and the bank's security system was compromised. You have a legal right to claim this.

🎣 Phishing Link Clicked — Secure Everything Now

  1. If you entered a bank login or OTP on that page — disconnect from the internet immediately and change all passwords from a clean device.
  2. Change passwords for your bank, email, UPI app, and any account linked to your phone number — do it now, not later.
  3. Enable two-factor authentication on all accounts. Use your registered mobile number as the second factor.
  4. Call your bank and inform them a phishing attempt occurred. Ask them to watch for any suspicious transactions and freeze your account if needed.
  5. Report the phishing URL to cybercrime.gov.in and CERT-In (cert-in.org.in). This protects others from the same link.

If you only clicked the link but did not enter any information — you are most likely safe. But run a full virus scan with an updated antivirus app as a precaution.

💰 Investment App Fraud — Your Money May Still Be Recoverable

  1. Stop depositing money immediately — no matter what "guaranteed profit" is shown. The dashboard is fake software designed to keep you investing until they disappear.
  2. Call 1930 and report all transaction IDs of the deposits you made. Provide app names and contact details of the "agents".
  3. Collect all evidence before the app disappears: screenshots of your "portfolio", all chat history, names of agents who contacted you, payment receipts.
  4. File at cybercrime.gov.in with full transaction history. Investment fraud is now "organised crime" under BNS 2023 Sec 318 — serious sentences apply.
  5. File a police FIR with all evidence. SEBI (sebi.gov.in) also has a complaint portal for investment fraud.

In 2025, investment fraud accounted for 76% of all financial cybercrime losses in India — ₹17,000+ crore. You are not alone. Thousands report this every week and recover funds.

🚫 Sextortion — Do Not Pay. Payment Guarantees They Return.

  1. Do not pay a single rupee. This is the most critical step. Payment tells them you will pay again — they always come back for more, often double or triple the amount.
  2. Block and report the person on every platform — WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram. Screenshot all threats first before blocking.
  3. Call 1930 — your identity and all details are completely confidential by law (IT Act Sec 66E). No public disclosure happens. The cyber police are discreet and trained for this.
  4. File at cybercrime.gov.in — the portal has a dedicated sextortion section. All your personal details are sealed. Screenshots of threats are your evidence.
  5. If you are a woman — call 181 (free). The National Commission for Women provides immediate legal support and can connect you with trained cyber counsellors.

IT Act Sec 66E and Sec 67 guarantee complete victim privacy. The police cannot reveal your identity publicly under any circumstance. You have full legal protection — use it.

🏦 Fake Loan App Harassment — You Have Strong Legal Protection

  1. Do not pay any "processing fee", "insurance charge", or "security deposit" — these are extraction tactics. No legitimate lender charges fees before disbursing a loan.
  2. Uninstall the app immediately and revoke all permissions it has to your contacts, camera, and gallery through your phone Settings → Apps.
  3. File at cybercrime.gov.in with the app name, screenshots of all threats and messages, and any payment receipts. This triggers investigation.
  4. Call 1930 and report the app. The RBI has banned hundreds of illegal digital lending apps — this one will be added to the list.
  5. If they send messages to your contacts — file an FIR under IT Act Sec 67 (obscene publication). This is a criminal offence with jail time.

RBI Digital Lending Guidelines (2022) prohibit fee collection before loan disbursement. If this happened — you were defrauded. File the complaint. The law covers you completely.

PM Narendra Modi Warned Every Indian: "Digital Arrest Does Not Exist in Indian Law"

"There is no provision called 'Digital Arrest' in our law. No government agency — CBI, ED, police, or court — ever conducts arrests via video call. If someone calls claiming this, do not panic. Hang up. Call 1930 immediately."

How Criminals Trap You in 4 Steps

Every scam — UPI fraud, Digital Arrest, fake loans — uses the same psychological script. Know it once and you are immune forever.

01

Contact

Call, WhatsApp, or SMS arrives. They sound official — bank officer, CBI agent, courier. The number appears legitimate. The voice is calm and authoritative.

Phone · WhatsApp · SMS
02

Create Fear

Urgency is manufactured: "Your Aadhaar was used in drug trafficking." "You will be arrested tonight." Fake warrants, forged CBI IDs, fabricated news screenshots appear on screen.

03

Isolate You

"Do not tell your family — this is a confidential investigation." Without a reality check from loved ones, victims comply with anything. Isolation is their most powerful weapon.
